3D Model and AR Experiment (FOR PHONES)
If you have a fairly modern and powerful iPhone or Android with an up to date operating system version,
you should see below an image of a mammoth skeleton and an icon showing a small movable box outline.
[HMM - should change mammoth to horse (smaller model, less data usage!) but mammoth is nicer.]
There will be a short delay while the 3D file package loads from our site.
As it loads, a horizontal time bar will grow in size.
Tap the box to bring up a menu and probably open the system camera/AR app (you may need to grant permission).
Then you need to move the phone so the AR can learn about your environment.
You can select AR to show the 3d model against the local space seen through the camera lens.
(you can also 'hold' the skeleton in place or zoom it with gestures).
Alternatively select Object to simply see the model alone (you can turn it with finger screen gestures).
If you want to take a photo (with the AR skeleton model), tap the view, then tap the shutter button which should appear.
When done, tap the view again, then select X to return to this page.
